Clashes In Kei Besar Keluar District Again, Sultanate Of Ternate Hopes North Maluku Residents Don't Participate

MALUT - Sultanate of Ternate in North Maluku or North Maluku calls on all residents in Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku, who are currently clashing between groups to end the conflict and resolve problems amicably.

"I hope that inter-citizen clashes in Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku Regency, can subside and be resolved amicably," said 49th Sultan Ternate, Hidayatullah Sjah, in Ternate, quoted from Antara, Monday, November 14.

Based on the information he obtained, Hidayatullah said the inter-citizen conflict in Kei Besar occurred due to land disputes, not because of ethnic problems or SARA.

Therefore, Hidayatullah requested that all levels of society, especially in the North Maluku region and especially the City of Ternate, remain tolerant and maintain harmony. He hopes that conditions in Kei Besar will not affect other residents.

He also requested that the horizontal conflict involving Kei Besar in 1999 not be repeated. This is because it has proven that many ethnic groups have been confirmed as traditional stakeholders of the Sultanate of Ternate.

This means, continued Hidayatullah, all ethnic groups unite living in a tolerant manner within the framework of the noble culture of the Indonesian nation. Especially the values of local wisdom, Moloku Kie Raha, which was created hundreds of years ago.

He also appealed to the people in Maluku and Malut Provinces not to be provoked or carried away by provocations regarding the conflict that occurred.

"As the Sultan of Ternate, I urge all components of society to maintain security stability, if there is friction to be resolved cultured by prioritizing constructive dialogue because all traditional leaders, ulama, Muslims, Christians, Konghuchu, TNI, Polri and local governments sit together to overcome community problems together to protect those who want to create disharmony in the community," he said.

In January 2022, Hidayatullah admitted that he helped encourage the TNI/Polri together with religious leaders and local community leaders to sit together to resolve Haruku's conflict, Maluku Province.

"He invited the brothers and sisters in Haruku not to be provoked by various information that could divide the sense of brotherhood that has existed so far, so that the conflict can be resolved and we live in a peaceful atmosphere," he said.

According to him, the spirit of togetherness and kinship must always be maintained in order to avoid conflict and the community can live in harmony, calm and not be provoked by various information that creates conflict.

Previously, the Regent of Southeast Maluku, M Thaher Hanubun, asked the public not to be provoked and emphasized that the clash between groups of residents in Kei Besar District was not a religious conflict.

"It was stated firmly that the incident that occurred on Saturday, November 12, 2022, had nothing to do with religious disputes," he said, in Langgur, Sunday, November 13.
