Immediate Trial, Mardani H Maming To Be Transferred To Banjarmasin Prison, South Kalimantan

SOUTH KALIMANTAN- PBNU General Treasurer (Bendum) Mardani H Maming will soon undergo a trial at the Corruption Court at the Banjarmasin District Court (PN), South Kalimantan (Kalsel). Maming's detention will be transferred to the Banjarmasin Penitentiary (Lapas).

The former regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, has been named a suspect in the alleged bribery of mining permits in the area he once led.

"The transfer of the place of detention is to facilitate the examination of the defendant in the trial," said the spokesman for the Banjarmasin District Court, Aris Bawono Langgeng, in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, as quoted from Antara, Friday, November 4.

Citing the Case Investigation Information System (SIPP) of the Banjarmasin District Court, Maming is still being held at the KPK Detention Center Military Police Kodam Jaya in Guntur, DKI Jakarta.

The general chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) has been detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) since Thursday, July 28 after undergoing examination as a suspect at the KPK's Merah Putih Building, Jakarta.

Regarding the technicalities of the trial, which is scheduled for the first time to be held on Thursday, November 10 next week, Aris said that it has not yet been confirmed whether the accused will be presented in person in the courtroom or online following from prison.

"We will consider a number of factors, especially security, including whether there is a request from legal counsel or also the prison," he explained.

Maming was put on trial after allegedly accepting bribes to transfer a mining business permit (IUP) in Tanah Bumbu Regency in 2011 when he was still the Regent of Tanah Bumbu.

The KPK public prosecutor listed a number of articles contained in the two alternative indictments.

The first is Article 12 letter b Jo. Article 18 of the Law (UU) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Then, in the second alternative indictment, Article 11 Jo. Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption.
