Scramble For Vice Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan, Democrats Remind PKS Not To Contest Each Other

JAKARTA - The spokesperson for the Democratic Party's DPP, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, reminded fellow candidates for coalition partners not to pre-empt a mutual agreement in determining the name of the vice presidential candidate for Anies Baswedan.

According to him, Democrat-PKS-NasDem did not compete with each other in the election of Anies' companion because the main goal was to win the 2024 General Election.

"We want the president and vice president to complement each other, have chemistry, support each other, not even precede each other or contest each other," Herzaky told reporters, Monday, October 31.

Herzaky emphasized that the Democrat-PKS-NasDem have agreed on the criteria for a person who is worthy of a duet stage with Anies in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, the figure must have at least five criteria for future leaders of Indonesia.

"That is to have integrity, capability, electability, chemistry, and the spirit to fight for change and improvement," he explained.

Even now, he said, there has been no official joint discussion between the Democrat-PKS-NasDem regarding the names of the vice presidential candidates. Although several aspirations have been entered, Herzaky ensured that the three political parties will take a mutual agreement.

"There are internal mechanisms in each political party that must be followed in making decisions," he added.

It is known that the Democrat-PKS-NasDem are looking for a vice presidential candidate from internal to accompany Anies. PKS, which encouraged Aher, then brought the hero together with Anies at PKS headquarters in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Sunday, October 30.

In their togetherness, Aher and Anies both claimed to have had chemistry since they both became regional government leaders.

The meeting between Aher and Anies was held shortly after the Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono alias AHY visited and met Anies on Tuesday, October 25.
