JAKARTA - Russia's upgraded fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet made its debut flight on October 21, the press office of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Tuesday.
"The Sukhoi Design Bureau at UAC is carrying out work to further develop the Su-57. On October 21, the upgraded fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft made its debut flight at the airfield of the Gromov Flight Testing Institute", the press office said.
"The plane was flown by the test pilot of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, Hero of Russia Sergey Bogdan. The flight lasted 56 minutes and went without a hitch", the statement continued.
The Su-57 fighter jet is also testing onboard equipment with extended functionality, AI support or crew artificial intelligence, and the option to deploy a variety of new weapon types, the UAC said.
"The aircraft also offers the possibility to install a second-stage engine", the statement said.
The Sukhoi Su-57 is a Russian-made fifth-generation multi-role fighter designed to destroy all types of air, land, and sea targets.
