JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that DKI Jakarta, East Java and Bali will experience moderate and heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds today, Tuesday, October 11.

In the weather early warning system, BMKG also predicts a number of other areas will experience the same thing, namely West Java, Banten, Aceh, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, Gorontalo, Jambi, Lampung, Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara.

Furthermore, almost all provinces on the islands of Kalimantan, Papua, West Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and South Sumatra.

Previously, the BMKG had issued a report on the potential for extreme weather, namely heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds for the next week or October 9-15.

"The latest analysis shows that the dynamics of the atmosphere in the territory of Indonesia is still quite significant and has the potential to increase the potential for extreme weather in several areas in the next week," said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati, quoted from Antara.

Dwikorita explained that the potential for extreme weather to occur is based on the results of the analysis of atmospheric dynamics which show the existence of cyclonic circulation.

This cyclonic circulation forms a pattern of wind bends and a slowdown in wind speed that can increase the growth of rain clouds.

In addition, the active phenomenon of atmospheric waves such as the Madden Jullian Oscillation (MJO) which interacts with the Equatorial Rossby wave and Kelvin wave.

"The interaction of these phenomena can indirectly increase the growth of rain clouds in several parts of Indonesia in the next few days," he said.
