JAKARTA - The Perkebunan Nusantara PTPN III (Persero) Holding through the PTPN IV Palmco Sub-Holding continues to optimize the distribution of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program throughout the first semester of 2026.
The distribution of this assistance is focused on two sectors, namely child nutrition to reduce stunting and economic empowerment of villages through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Cooperatives.
This step is being rolled out gradually in a number of plantation operational areas that stretch from Sumatra Province to Kalimantan.
This program is also a form of corporate support for the government's priorities in improving the quality of human resources (HR) and the resilience of the people's economy.
In the health sector, PTPN IV PalmCo realized the Caregiver Parents Movement to Prevent Stunting (GENTING) accompanied by the distribution of Recovery Supplementary Food (PMT).
This assistance targets a number of vulnerable nutritional points, including the Rokan Hulu Regency (Riau), as well as the Serdang Bedagai and Langkat Regencies (North Sumatra), through coordination with the local health service and Kodam I/Bukit Barisan.
The President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo, Jatmiko K. Santosa, emphasized that tackling stunting is a long-term investment for the future of the national economy.
"Every industry needs superior human resources so that it can compete at the national and global levels. Therefore, it is very important for the business world to be involved in efforts to reduce stunting. PalmCo as a SOE is very serious about this," said Jatmiko in a written statement, Monday, June 15.
The company's consistency is now reflected more broadly through the implementation of a nutrition program for the community around the operational area.
"Alhamdulilah, the prevalence of stunting in the company's operational area is very controlled. More than 21 thousand children in the company's environment, only 0.6 percent or 132 children need stunting intervention. This positive achievement is an incentive for us to also implement similar programs for other villagers. This is our commitment to be present and contribute to the health of toddlers and pregnant women in the operational area," added Jatmiko.
Apart from the nutritional health of toddlers, the TJSL funds of PTPN IV PalmCo also flow into the SME coaching sector in rural areas. Starting from the initiation in Riau, this village independence program is now being replicated to North Sumatra and being explored in Jambi.
This strategy is designed to integrate local craftsmen into the company's business ecosystem. Later, the harvesting tools produced by the cooperative will be absorbed for the operational needs of the plantation.
"Empowering this blacksmithing MSME is one of the strategies to strengthen the company's core supply chain. We want to ensure that the harvesting tools used in PalmCo's plantations are supported by the work of the nation's children," said Jatmiko.
The form of intervention provided is not only cash funds, but a complete package in the form of facilitation of cooperative legality, production machines, entrepreneurship training, to market absorption guarantees through the standby buyer (off-taker) scheme.
The positive impact of this program was also recognized by UMKM actors. Head of the Merah Putih Teratak Cooperative in Kampar Regency, Desrico Apriyus, said that the assistance from PTPN IV PalmCo has successfully expanded the market reach of village craftsmen.
"In addition to lending and trading, we are a group of blacksmiths trained by PTPN IV so that we can become a center for agricultural tools manufacturers that have expanded outside Riau, even to foreign countries," concluded Desrico.
