Gibran: After G20, UAE President Will Inaugurate Sheikh Zayed Mosque Surakarta

SURAKARTA - Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque is almost complete. Within two months, the mosque in the Gilingan area, Solo City is scheduled to be inaugurated.

"The opening will be held on November 17, 2022," said Gibran in Solo, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 27.

He said the inauguration would be carried out directly by the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Muhammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan or MBZ.

"It will be inaugurated directly by His Excellency MBZ. So after the G20 he will inaugurate the Gilingan Mosque directly," he said.

Meanwhile, monitoring in the field until now the workers are completing the work on the top of the building. In addition, several domes ranging from large to small have been fully installed.

PT Waskita Karya as the executor of the replica construction project of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque said that until the beginning of this month the progress of the project construction had reached 73.38 percent.

Previously, last month the Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Guidance (Urais Binsyar) of the Ministry of Religion M Adib said that in addition to the inauguration of the mosque, on the same occasion there would also be the laying of the first stone for the construction of the Islamic Center or Center for Islamic Activities.

The location for the construction of the Islamic Center is in the one hectare area of ​​the Transportation Detachment Detachment (Denbekang) IV-44-04/Surakarta area.

"(The location) is exactly opposite the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. So later there will be a connecting tunnel for the two buildings," he said.
