There Is TNI Not Neutral In The Pilkada, KSAD Andika: Report, Immediate Action

JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) General TNI Andika Perkasa reminded all TNI AD personnel to remain neutral in the 2020 simultaneous regional elections which took place in 270 regions in Indonesia.

"The TNI AD must indeed be neutral in accordance with the mandate of the law," said Army Chief of Staff Andika while reviewing the 2020 Kartika Yudha Inter-Branch Training Peak at the Military Command's Combat Training Center (Puslatpur) in Baturaja, OKU Regency, South Sumatra, as reported by Antara, Thursday , 26 November.

According to him, this neutral stance is required considering that the TNI does not have any mission related to regional elections.

Andika asked the whole community to report if there were any members of the TNI who were not neutral or side with one of the candidates for regional head during the 2020 simultaneous regional elections.

"Reports from the public will be immediately followed up to take action against unscrupulous members of the TNI who are involved in practical politics, in accordance with the violations they committed," he said.

He made sure that he would not cover or protect those who were proven not to be neutral during the 2020 Pilkada. "I really hope that the public will immediately report these violations," he said.

The Army Chief of Staff Andika also hopes that all elements of society will work together to maintain a conducive situation in order to create a safe and peaceful regional election.

"We want the 2020 Pilkada to run honestly and fairly and without any fuss," he said.
