JAKARTA - Emirates airline has reintroduced direct flights to Auckland with its Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft.
The route that will continue will be the airline's longest flight based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), covering a distance of 14.200 kilometers in 16 hours.
It will be one of the longest non-stop scheduled commercial flights in the world, one of the longest A380 flights on the planet.
Daily double-deck flights from Dubai to New Zealand will start on December 1, with one-way fares starting at 7.680 UAE dirhams or around IDR 31.054.957, reports The National News August 25.
To Auckland, the A380 flight will depart Dubai daily shortly after 10 a.m., arriving in New Zealand at 11am the following day.
Upon their return, travelers will leave Auckland at 9:15 p.m., landing in Dubai around 05:30am the next day.
The move comes after New Zealand lifted its latest COVID-19 restrictions last month.
Apart from Auckland, Emirates also continues non-stop flights to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Non-stop flights from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur will take 7 hours 15 minutes.
The service is scheduled to depart Dubai daily at 3.30 a.m., arriving in the Malaysian capital at 2.35 p.m. On the return journey, the flight left Kuala Lumpur at 1.45am, landing in Dubai shortly after 5am.
One-way fares from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur start at 2.100 UAE dirhams per person or around IDR 8.491.589.
It is known, currently Emirates serves flights to both cities with a connected Boeing 777 fleet, which stops in Kuala Lumpur and then continues on to Auckland.
The start of superjumbo flights to each city will cut them off and travelers can fly non-stop between the two destinations from Dubai.
Emirates is the largest A380 operator, with 118 multi-level aircraft in its fleet. Travelers love airplanes for their spacious cabins and luxury products, such as in-flight bathrooms and shared bars.

During the global pandemic, Emirates and many other airlines grounded their A380 fleet. Dubai airlines are now accelerating the use of superjumbos to meet the growing global demand for air travel.
Currently, Emirates operates the largest passenger jet to 32 destinations worldwide, with plans to add more destinations. It has announced major retrofit plans for its 67 A380 superjumbos, in which a new premium economy cabin will be installed, with a refurbished first class cabin and business class seats.
Travelers flying to Auckland and Kuala Lumpur will not be able to book Emirates' newest cabin class. It will not be offered on any of the routes when they resume in December, an airline representative confirmed.
