JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized the need for a massive and coordinated movement to tackle terrorism and radicalism in Indonesia.

"There needs to be a massive and more coordinated movement between institutions that deal with terrorism and radicalism," said the Vice President when receiving the Head of the Center for Terrorism and Radicalism Studies (CTRS) at the Vice President's official residence, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 23.

The Vice President assessed that the existence of a research institution that specifically researches and analyzes acts of terrorism and radicalism is very important as an effort to counteract and apply anticipatory attitudes towards their existence.

Ma'ruf Amin supports the existence of a study center centered on one institution so that there is no overlap. It is also hoped that the research results can be used as a joint reference between related institutions.

"I agree that if the study is carried out together, like BRIN, it will be centralized, others will use the results later," he explained.

In addition, the Vice President emphasized that ministries/agencies could conduct studies or research effectively in order to obtain optimal work results without wasting the state budget in vain.

"Do not let the big budget but the results are not clear," said the Vice President.

Advisor to the Center for Terrorism and Radicalism Studies (CTRS) Ahmad Muqowwam conveyed the hope of CTRS as an institution that has the goal of educating the public about the importance of anti-terrorism and radicalism in society.

"We have a strong desire that the functions of anti-terrorism and radicalism will not only be the focus of the government, but also become a concern for the entire community," said Ahmad.

For information, CTRS is an institution that studies studies related to terrorism and radicalism within the Police Science College (STIK).

CTRS is a forum for community empowerment in an effort to combat and provide education to the younger generation against criminal acts of terrorism.
