JAKARTA - A South Korean minister expressed his regret for the statements made by North Korean officials, which were deemed inappropriate towards the President of the Ginseng Country.

It refers to statements by Kim Yo-jong, the younger brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, in response to South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's plans for economic aid and denuclearization.

"I express deep regret over Kim Yo-jong's extremely disrespectful and indecent criticism of our president," South Korea's Unification Minister Kwon Young-se told a parliamentary session.

As reported earlier, President Yoon reiterated his willingness to provide gradual economic assistance to North Korea, if it can help end nuclear weapons development and begin denuclearization, noting he has called for dialogue with Pyongyang since his campaign.

The announcement was made during his first 100-day press conference on Wednesday, hours after North Korea test-launched a cruise missile into the sea.

"Thinking of the barter plan "economic cooperation" for our honor, nuclear, is Yoon's big dream, hope and plan, we realize that he is really simple and still childish," said Kim Yo-jong, citing Reuters from KCNA.

"Although he may be knocking on the door with big plans in the future because his 'bold plan' doesn't work, we made it clear we won't be sitting face to face with him."
