Indonesia Records 58,544,800 Citizens Already Undergoing The First Booster Vaccination

JAKARTA - Indonesian citizens who have undergone the first booster or booster dose vaccination totaled 58,544,800 people as of Sunday, August 14 night. The figure was calculated based on the addition on the same day as many as 7,069 people.

According to data from the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, the number of recipients of the complete dose of vaccine on Sunday, August 14, increased by 1,604 people, bringing the total to 170,486,755 people.

The total number of residents who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination has also increased by 2,523 people, bringing the total to 202,951,838.

While the COVID-19 vaccination target is 234,666,020 people. Based on the Antara report, the Task Force also informed that the positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia increased by 4,442.

Thus, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia as of Sunday, August 14, reached 6,282,774 people.

In this regard, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force reminded the public to continue to strengthen health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, considering that the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing.

The COVID-19 Handling Task Force also reminded the public to complete vaccinations from the first dose to the booster dose.

Meanwhile, previously, pulmonary specialist Dr. dr. Fathiyah Isbaniah, Sp. P (K) invites the public to equip themselves with COVID-19 vaccinations to booster doses to reduce the risk of the post-COVID-19 syndrome.

"One way to reduce the risk of 'long' COVID-19 or post-COVID-19 syndrome is by vaccination, from the first dose to the booster dose," he said.

The Head of the Infection Division of the Persahabatan Hospital, explained several things that were risk factors for the post-COVID-19 syndrome, namely age over 50 years, comorbidities, hypertension, obesity, psychiatric conditions, immunosuppressive diseases, and the severity of symptoms during the acute phase of COVID-19. 19.

Meanwhile, Head of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) COVID-19 Task Force Zubairi Djoerban said the second booster dose vaccination for health workers was very effective in increasing protection from the risk of COVID-19.

"The second booster is very effective and safe, the policy of giving a second booster for health workers is the right thing," he said.
