2 PSI Cadres Swerve In Support Of 2024 Presidential Candidate Anies, Activist: An Example Of Ahok's Supporters Whose Minds Are Clear And Not Bad

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) is clearly critical and at odds with the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan. The rule made two of his cadres finally decide to leave and swerve to choose to support Anies.

After Sunny Tanuwidjaja, a close person to Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, Surya Tjandra finally approached the former Minister of Education and Culture.

Surya, who once served as Deputy Minister (Wamen) of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) in President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) cabinet, left PSI to turn around in favor of Anies as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024.

According to the Jakarta Citizens Collaboration activist, Andi Sinulingga, the steps taken by Suuny and Surya who both supported Ahok in the 2017 DKI Regional Head Election (Pilkada) were right. Andi commented on Surya's reason for leaving PSI in a video clip circulating on social media.

"Surya's opinion is an example of the many people who support Ahok who are objective, his mind is clear and not bad," Andi commented on his Twitter account, @AndiSinulingga.

He considered that Surya was not a politician who was easily offended when his champion lost in the previous political contestation. Now Surya has his own view of supporting Anies, who used to be Ahok's rival.

"His heart is far from the pain of losing the election, so there is no end to the [heartache]," he continued.

Previously, in a 1 minute 29 second video, Surya revealed his reasons for supporting Anies as a presidential candidate in 2024.

Surya admitted that at first he and his colleagues had misjudged Anies, who he thought would make DKI Jakarta chaotic. However, in reality, Anies performed and made policies according to his expectations.

"But after becoming governor, whether there were any discriminatory actions carried out by Pak Anies against Chinese people like me, against Christians like me, I can't find it. Or there are development programs that have been damaged, or not completed," said Surya.
