JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, emphasized that the process of alleged ethical and criminal violations could go hand in hand. This affirmation was conveyed regarding handling alleged violations of the code of ethics of former Head of the Police's Professional and Security Division (Propam), Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, in handling the murder case of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.

"According to the law, ethical violations and criminal violations can go together, they don't have to wait for each other and cannot cancel each other out. That is, if someone is sentenced to ethical sanctions, it does not mean that his criminal allegations are ruled out. Ethical violations are processed, criminal violations are processed equally", said Mahfud MD in the @mohmahfudmd Instagram account quoted on Sunday, August 7th.

Mahfud conveyed this regarding the news that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo had been brought to the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters in Depok on Saturday, August 6. Moments later, the National Police Headquarters held a press conference regarding Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

Regarding the handling of ethics and crime, Mahfud MD gave an example of the Akil Mochtar case related to the bribery case handling the lawsuit at the Constitutional Court.

“For example, in the past, the case of Mr. Akil Mochtar in the Constitutional Court. When the person concerned is detained for alleged corruption after being OTT, without waiting for the completion of the criminal process, his ethical violation is processed and he is first dismissed from his position as a judge of the Constitutional Court through ethical sanctions. It makes it easier for criminal investigations because he can't be flirtatious in the Constitutional Court", said Mahfud.

After the ethical sanctions were imposed, sometime later a criminal sentence was decided.

“Several years after the ethical sanctions were imposed, they were sentenced to criminal penalties. Criminal investigations are more complicated and take longer than ethical violations. So the public doesn't need to worry, solving this ethical problem will actually make it easier to speed up the criminal investigation if there are allegations and allegations about it", said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, confirmed that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was still being investigated by the Special Inspectorate (Irsus) team regarding allegations of unprofessional violations in the crime scene (TKP) of the murder of Brigadier J.

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo is not yet a suspect. Because Special Inspectorate has a focus on handling violations of the code of ethics, not scientific evidence carried out by a special team (Timsus).

"Yes, not yet (suspect). If so, who is the suspect? what is suspected is from the Timsus, this is the Special Inspectorate (handling). So don't make a mistake", said Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo at a press conference handling the case of Brigadier J at the National Police Headquarters, Saturday, August 6 night.

Straightened by Inspector General Dedi, the news of the arrests and detentions is not true. Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was placed in a special place because of the handling of alleged violations of the code of ethics to be brought to the ethics trial.

"That's not true", he said of the news of the arrest.

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo is suspected of being unprofessional in handling the case of Brigadier J's murder, such as destroying or eliminating CCTV.

"I mentioned earlier, in the implementation of the TKP, as the National Police Chief said that CCTV was taken and so on", said Inspector General Dedi.

The decision behind Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was declared unprofessional based on the results of the investigation by the Special Inspectorate (Irsus) of the National Police. 10 witnesses have been questioned.

"Special Inspectorate determined that Inspector General FS was suspected of committing a violation related to the problem of unprofessionalism in processing the crime scene, therefore tonight the person concerned was immediately placed in a special place at the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters", said Inspector General Dedi.
