SULUT- The Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil) of the Sangihe Islands Regency recorded that 16.570 children aged 0 to 16 years in their territory already have a child identity card (KIA).

Secretary of the Sangihe Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil) Davidson Henry Darang said this number means 55.15 percent of the MCH target in the area of 30.046 children.

"Disdukcapil Sangihe has issued 16.570 child identity cards until the end of June 2022," said Davidson in Tahuna, North Sulawesi (Sulut), Monday, July 25.

According to him, the realization of providing child identity cards in Sangihe Regency has exceeded the national target of 40 percent.

Even so, he said, the Sangihe Disdukcapil continued to advise the public, especially families with children aged 0 to 16 years, to take care of their child's identity card.

"We invite parents to bring their children aged 0 to 16 years to get MCH," he said.

He said that for children born in the hospital, the Disdukcapil had cooperated with the hospital so that the child's identity card was immediately issued.

"The identity cards of children aged 0 to 4 years do not have photos, so when a child is born in the hospital, we immediately issue a child's identity card," he said.

Meanwhile, children aged 5 to 16 years must have a photo such as an e-ID Card (KTP).

Disdukcapil Sangihe, he said, continues to provide services to issue population documents for residents who do not yet have an identity.

"In the midst of limited funds and personnel, Disdukcapil tries to visit schools, especially elementary and junior high schools to record MCH for children aged 5 to 16 years," he said.
