Novel Baswedan's Criticism To Firli Bahuri Mentioning Integrity When His Deputy Allegedly Violates Ethic Code

JAKARTA - Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan gave a satire for KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri who alluded to integrity. According to him, the head of the anti-corruption commission did not match his attitude and statement.

The satire was conveyed by Novel when the KPK uploaded a photo of Firli Bahuri accompanied by a statement, "Stakeholders must help foster an environment of integrity, ethical values, and norms of accountability. All parties have an important role in preventing and eradicating corruption. So the spirit of this meeting is to collaborate and work together."

Responding to the upload via his Twitter account @nazaqistsha, Novel said that Firli's statement was good to implement. But, unfortunately, the KPK does not consistently do that.

"The statement below is good. But the KPK leadership itself does not do this," Novel wrote on his Twitter account in response to the KPK Twitter tweet, @KPK_RI quoted Friday, July 8.

Novel then alludes to the Deputy Chair of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar. According to him, Firli Bahuri and other representatives actually defended Lili even though she had violated ethics.

Lili is known to have been given a severe sanction by the Supervisory Board in the form of cutting her basic salary for 12 months as much as 40 percent. The reason is that she has abused her authority and is in contact with the litigant, former Tanjungbalai Mayor M. Syahrial.

Not only that, Lili is now again dealing with the KPK Council for allegedly receiving accommodation and tickets to watch the Mandalika MotoGP. This facility is provided by PT Pertamina (Persero).

"Lili has repeatedly violated serious ethics and has been defended. Called by the Supervisory Board, she is not present, other leaders can prevent it," he said.

"Then Firli still wants to talk about integrity?" asked Novel, ending his tweet.

In investigating the alleged receipt of the Mandalika MotoGP ticket, Lili was supposed to undergo a trial held by the KPK Supervisory Board on Tuesday, July 5. However, she was not present because she had to carry out her official duties as a speaker at the second round of the Anti Corruption Working Group (ACWG) event in Nusa Dua, Bali.

As a result, the KPK Supervisory Board had to postpone the trial. Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board, said the ethics session would be held on Monday, July 11.

This trial will be held behind closed doors and only open when the verdict is read out. This is in accordance with the Regulations of the Supervisory Board.

As for handling the alleged ethical violation, the KPK Council has collected materials and information from related parties, including the state-owned company. President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati has also been examined some time ago and provided additional information in writing.

Not only that, they have asked related parties to bring proof of booking accommodation at Amber Lombok Beach Resort and Mandalika MotoGP tickets at the Grandstand Premium Zone A-Red.
