Dozens Of Graves In Bengkulu Have Collapsed Due To Heavy Rain, This Is The Condition

BENGKULU - Dozens of graves at the Public Cemetery Place (TPU) of the Perumdam Cemetery Association and its surroundings in Kandang Mas Village, Kampung Melayu District, Bengkulu City, allegedly due to heavy rains some time ago. Kandang Mas Village Head, Karimullah, in Bengkulu, Wednesday, July 6, said The condition of the tens of submerged graves was only known to the local community on Tuesday, July 5th.

Submerged tombs with varying depths, between 10-50 centimeters.

The temporary suspicion is that the tomb sinks due to the condition of the tomb which has been around for a long time coupled with high rainfall some time ago.

"It is known that dozens of graves in one of the TPU Kandang Mas sub-district collapsed, allegedly due to the rainfall," said Karimullah.

He explained that the incident was the first time because the condition of the burial ground was not a heap and was not a flood-prone area.

His party has coordinated with the local sub-district government for further handling of the situation. One of the family members whose tomb collapsed, Suharto, admitted that he came to the tomb to repair the tomb of his brother who also collapsed.

"This is the first time my sister's grave has collapsed because the area in Kandang Mas Village is not a flood-prone area," he said, quoted by Antara.

Some of the graves have been backfilled by the family and some have not been filled up because other family members do not know about the condition.
