Jokowi Believes Indonesia Will Become A Developed Country In 2045 If Consistently Stop Exporting Raw Materials

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo predicts that Indonesia will become a developed country in the next twenty years if it dares to stop the export of raw materials completely.

If exports of raw materials are consistently carried out, said Jokowi, Indonesia's per capita income could reach USD 21 thousand to 27 thousand. Meanwhile, currently Indonesia's per capita income still reaches USD 4,349.5.

This was stated by Jokowi at the PDIP II National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta today.

"Our calculations are in 2045, if there is consistency in leadership with the courage to stop the export of raw materials until that year, God willing, we will already be at 21 thousand to 27 thousand of our income per capita. We are really in a position in the country. forward," said Jokowi, Tuesday, June 21.

Jokowi views that if future Indonesian leaders are consistent in stopping exports of raw materials, this will add added value in the country. Along with that, employment and tax revenues also increase.

"We must start to dare to stop exporting raw materials, then we make finished goods. There is industrialization and downstreaming there. That is actually our great strength so that the added value is in the country," said Jokowi.

"If we send raw materials, which get added value from other countries, which get jobs from other countries, other countries also get taxes. If the industry is here, we can get PPh. Corporate PPh, employee PPh, individual PPh, corporate PPh can , taxes can, export duties can, export duties can," he continued.

However, Jokowi stressed the importance of developing human resources to infrastructure to process raw materials that are not exported into semi-finished materials.

"The challenge is once again not easy, especially human resource development. So, without mutual cooperation, we will have difficulty facing global competition. Competition currently occurs in almost all sectors from upstream to downstream. Not only competing in the economic field, in business, but also HR. In the field of science and technology.
