KENDARI - The mayor of Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Sulkarnain Kadir, said that his party will permanently restore 26 houses that were victims of the fire on Thursday, June 9 in Puuwatu Village, Puuwatu District, near the Puuwatu landfill.

"We are trying to make a proposal for a permanent solution, because this is an emergency, hopefully it won't take too long," said Sulkarnain in Kendari, Tuesday, June 14.

The mayor admitted that his party is currently listing the heads of families whose houses burned to the ground to be proposed to the PUPR Ministry so that they can get permanent housing assistance with the option of flats or special houses.

"We are currently calculating what is right, because there are several choices, whether it is an apartment or a special house like the one in Purirano or will it take a different form," said the mayor.

The mayor admitted that his party was trying to get dozens of families who were victims of the fire to get permanent houses so that they would no longer experience a similar disaster.

"Because if it was previously vulnerable, this disaster could happen again. Imagine in an instant 26 houses burned down instantly. Of course, this is something we must anticipate in the future and as much as possible not to repeat it," said the Mayor, quoted by Antara.

According to him, there will be no problems in permanentizing the houses of fire victims in the area because his party has also checked the land and found no problems. So he hopes it will be realized soon.

"We are coordinating with the Ministry (PUPR) hopefully this can be realized quickly, including we have also checked the land, it's clear, hopefully, it can be considered by the ministry," said the mayor.

While related to population data such as ID cards and family cards (KK), the Mayor asked the public to remain calm because they can still be reprinted.

"When it comes to safe population, the data is there quickly, right now it's digital, there's no need to worry about maintaining complete data. It's just a matter of making sure that if it is necessary to reprint the ID card, we will print it again," said Mayor of Kendari, Sulkarnain Kadir.

The Kendari City Government and other related parties are currently preparing emergency tents including emergency kitchens for dozens of families who experienced the disaster on Thursday (9/6), where 26 units of houses were burned down.
