JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Metro Police are investigating the alleged raising of the flag of the banned Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) organization during the declaration of support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate for 2024.

The South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto, said that currently several witnesses had been examined in this regard.

"We are conducting an investigation, so as soon as there is such information, we happened to be directly at the TKP we secured the flag. It has now been secured at the Resort Police," said Budhi Herdi Susianto in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, June 8.

Budhi added that a number of witnesses who were asked for information included the event organizers and security officers in the activity.

"It's still in process. Because it's not final yet. I don't have the courage to convey it yet," said Budhi.

Furthermore, he said that the declaration activity supporting Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate for 2024 already had a police permit. "As far as I know, there is already a crowd permit," said Budhi.

Previously, a group of people named "Our President's Assembly" held a declaration supporting DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a 2024 presidential candidate at Pancoran, South Jakarta.

It is known that at the location of the activity a black and white monotheistic flag was displayed alongside the Red and White flag.

The flag was on display from before the event started. There was tension because the committee asked that the flag with the word monotheism that the participants had put on it be lowered.
