JAKARTA - The Russian navy sent more than 40 warships and their support to the Pacific Ocean, including dozens of planes and helicopters marking the start of the country's Pacific Fleet exercises.

“During the practical training, the joint task group with the naval aviation will detect enemy submarines, train the air defense of the ship's tactical group, conduct combat and training exercises involving surface and air targets, practice organizational issues related to the material and technical support of the seaborne troops," said the ministry, as reported by TASS on June 3.

The missile tracking ship Marshal Krylov and frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov are currently in the training zone, along with large anti-submarine ships and corvettes, small anti-submarine ships, minesweepers, missile boats, and auxiliary vessels.

If there are no significant changes, this training will take place from 3 to 10 June according to the Russian Pacific Fleet's training schedule.

The ship Marshal Shaposhnikov, a Russian-improved project 1155M frigate, tested the Kalibr cruise missile in the Sea of Japan, striking a sea surface target at a distance of 100 kilometers, last year.

"The frigate of the Pacific Fleet, Marshal Shaposhnikv, fired a Kalibr cruise missile at a sea surface target in the Sea of Japan. The cruise missile successfully hit the target at a distance of 100 kilometers," the press service of the fleet said.

Previously, the frigate fired Kalibr cruise missiles at coastal targets at a distance of more than 1.000 km.
