JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation has secured a prospective operator company, which passed the pre-qualification stage for the Patimban Port of Government cooperation project (PPP), West Java, which was carried out with assistance with the Government Goods / Services Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP).

"The evaluation results from the procurement committee have been submitted to the Director General of Sea Transportation as the person in charge of the cooperation project (PJPK) for further processing," said Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 21.

Adita explained that the auction was opened on September 30, 2020 and at that time it was hoped that many companies and consortia would register. At the end of the registration period on October 14, 2020, 10 companies took part in taking the tender documents.

Meanwhile, five participants submitted tender documents consisting of three consortium companies and two single companies.

The five participants were then assessed based on a number of predetermined criteria, including financial capacity, minimum net assets, ownership of a port business license, and experience in managing container terminal projects with a predetermined minimum capacity.

"From the results of the selection that has been carried out strictly, only one consortium company has met all the criteria," said Adita.

The company is the Patimban Consortium consisting of PT CTCorp Infrastruktur Indonesia, PT Indika Logistic & Support Services, PT U Connectivity Services, and PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya.

He emphasized that even though there was only one company that passed the prequalification, the government was still optimistic that a candidate operator would be able to manage one of the largest ports in Indonesia.

"The criteria have been made very strict, so that those who can meet the criteria are companies that have good abilities," he said.

The results of the pre-qualification are also in accordance with the LKPP Institution Regulation Number 29/2018. In the regulation it is stated that the procurement of business entities through a cooperation scheme between the government and business entities, the auction process can still be continued even though only one has passed the prequalification.

Announcement of evaluation results will be delivered by letter to each participant. The announcement was also posted on the Ministry of Transportation's official website on Tuesday 20 October.

The opportunity for the CT Corpora consortium to win the auction is wide open. If this consortium wins the auction, it will certainly make CT Corpora's business octopus grow.

For information, currently CT Corpora is in charge of three sub-holding, namely Trans Corp, Mega Corpora, and CT Global Resources. These three sub holding companies led Chairul to become one of the richest people in Indonesia.

According to Forbes Real Time Billionaires data quoted on Wednesday, October 21, Chairul Tanjung's wealth reached 3.7 billion US dollars. If converted at an exchange rate of Rp. 14,700 per US dollar, Chairul Tanjung's wealth is equivalent to Rp. 54.39 trillion.
