KENDARI - The Kendari City Resort Police (Polresta) team, Southeast Sulawesi, arrested a man suspected of threatening to kill his female friend using an airsoft gun because the victim refused to be asked to commit immorality by the alleged perpetrator.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Kendari Police, AKP Fitrayadi, said the suspect with the initials MKP (23) is an employee at a private health examination laboratory in Kendari.

"The suspect was arrested by the Satreskrim Polresta Kendari this morning at around 08.00 WITA," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 23.

He revealed that the suspect was arrested without a fight at the boarding house in the Hall of the Mental Hospital, Mandonga District, Kendari.

On Sunday (22/5) at around 20.13 WITA, the alleged perpetrator initially picked up victim YM (23) who is a friend of MKP on Jalan Orinunggu, Poasia Kendari.

"The MKP suspect picked up the victim using a car and then took him for a walk," he explained.

After arriving at the Kendari Mayor's Office, continued Fitrayadi, the reported person stopped the car and turned off the engine then held the victim's hand and laid the victim's chair down and then tried to commit an indecent act.

Fitrayadi continued that the victim refused by pushing the reported body, but the MKP suspect pulled out an airsoff gun and pointed it at the victim.

"The suspect pointed an airsoft gun while saying 'if you don't want to follow me, I'll kill you'," said Fitriyadi, imitating the suspect's words.

Accepting this action, the victim tried to persuade the reported party not to do it at the venue, but at the hotel. The victim also handed over an ATM to rent a hotel as an effort to be free from the suspect.

"Then the victim gave his ATM and asked the reported person to withdraw money from the ATM, and when the reported person got out of the car and went to the ATM, the victim immediately got out of the car and asked people around for help," he explained.

The suspect was arrested based on sufficient preliminary evidence that it is reasonable to suspect that he had committed an obscene act as referred to in Article 289 of the Criminal Code with a threat of nine years in prison, he said.

"From this case, we confiscated an airsoft gun and a BRI Bank ATM. The suspect was taken to the Kendari Police Office for further investigation," he said.
