Corruption Eradication Commission Prisoners Get Online Family Gathering Time During Vesak

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) facilitated online visits to families of prisoners on Vesak Day 2566 BE or today, Monday, May 16.

The facility is provided for Buddhist prisoners who are languishing in the KPK Rutan so that they can gather with their families.

"This is to provide an opportunity for Buddhist prisoners to celebrate Vesak Day with their families and relatives," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters in a written statement quoted Monday, May 16.

Detainees can take advantage of the online visit from 09.00 to 12.00 western Indonesia time.

This activity was carried out in accordance with the 2020 Circular of the Director-General of Community Affairs at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights concerning Progressive Steps to Combat the Spread of the COVID-19 Virus.

In addition, prisoners are also allowed to receive special items in the form of food. Families, continued Ali, were given the opportunity to deliver food from 08.00 to 10.00 western Indonesia time.

"The food received must be sterile, not prohibited items, and be in transparent packaging," he stressed.

Next, the anti-corruption commission will also facilitate meals with fellow detainees in their respective places of detention. However, this activity will continue to prioritize strict health protocols.

"This activity is carried out while still implementing strict health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19," said Ali.
