JAKARTA - South Korean pop singer Daud Kim uploaded his photo while standing in front of the Kaaba at the Grand Mosque, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in the midst of his Umrah worship he has performed since moving in 2019.

The K-pop star shared moments at the two holy mosques in Mecca and Medina, as well as a number of other moments during Ramadan in Saudi Arabia via his Instagram page.

He uploaded a photo of himself in ihram, the dress worn to perform Umrah by men, and wrote: "I am the luckiest person because Allah (SWT) has chosen me and Allah has brought me here. Thanks to Allah for giving I have the opportunity to come to the holiest city in the world," as reported by The National News April 17

Previously, Daud also uploaded a photo of himself in Medina, precisely when he was at the Prophet's Mosque last week, while saying 'Ramadan Mubarak' to his followers.

Popularly known as Jay Kim, he changed his name to Daud Kim along with the choice to embrace Islam and was announced on his YouTube channel in 2019.

Last Friday, he uploaded several videos and photos of him breaking his fast with locals in Jeddah on his Insta Story. He said it was the best iftar of his life and he loved breaking his fast together as 'one family'.

The day before on Thursday night, Daud wrote on his Instagram that he felt attacked by people on social media for choosing another religion. However, it made his 'belief stronger' and that he 'never give up'.

He revealed that his trip to Indonesia a few years ago inspired his curiosity to learn about Islam when he met 'kind Muslims' and veiled Muslim women, who helped shatter stereotypes of oppression attached to the hijab.

"I fast for a whole month in Ramadan. I learn about the life of the Prophet (SAW) and collect everything little by little," he said.

On accepting Islam, Daud said: "I finally know that Allah is the destination of my journey. Islam is the greatest blessing and the greatest gift in my life."
