JAKARTA - Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Petrus Reinhard Golose said he would prepare and submit "New Psychoactive Substances" (NPS) or New Types of Narcotics to be regulated in the revision of the Narcotics Law (UU).
"We will prepare for NPS to be included in the Narcotics Law so that we can take action against NPS users and dealers," said Golose, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 6.
BNN has collaborated with the Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) of the Ministry of Social Affairs to local governments.

“This NPS continues to grow in the world. BNN has a narcotics laboratory. If we find certain substances, we immediately carry out an examination," he said.
To date, BNN has detected as many as 87 NPS entering Indonesia, and 75 NPS have been registered in the attachment to the Regulation of the Minister of Health. However, as many as 12 NPS have not been regulated in the Permenkes.

Golose said the other 12 NPS needed to be regulated in clear regulations so that BNN could take action through existing laboratory results.
According to him, the regulation is a necessity because Indonesia is a country based on law. Therefore, Golose is committed to submitting an NPS to be included in the revision of the Narcotics Law.
"That way, we can enter and even if we don't, the NPS is at least regulated from existing regulations so that we can enforce the law," said Golose.
