SURABAYA - The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa reminded the state civil apparatus (ASN) not to use the Ramadan 2022 fasting worship as a reason for the decline in work productivity.

"Stay productive and maintain the stamina of public services during Ramadan and reduce working hours," she said while leading the morning rally in the courtyard of the East Java Governor's Office on Pahlawan Street Surabaya, Monday, April 4.

The provincial government, she said, in Ramadan 1443 Hijri implemented a reduction in working hours compared to usual days.

This is after Khofifah issued Circular (SE) Number 800/2322/204.3/2022 regarding the determination of working hours in the month of Ramadan 1443 H for State Civil Apparatus within the East Java Provincial Government.

According to the SE signed by the Governor on April 3, 2022, during Ramadan, citing Antara, ASN working hours in all bureaus/agencies/services to all service UPTs are divided into two rules, namely the implementation of five working days and six working days.

For bureau/agency/departmental agencies that enforce five working days, working hours during Ramadan start at 08.00 to 15.00 western Indonesia time on Monday to Thursday with rest periods given at 12.00 to 12.30 western Indonesia time.

Meanwhile, for Friday, working hours are from 08.00 to 15.30 western Indonesia time, with break hours from 11.30 to 12.30 western Indonesia time.

Meanwhile, for agencies that implement six working days, starting at 08.00 to 14.00 western Indonesia time on Monday to Thursday and Saturday. Then, the break time is from 12.00 to 12.30 western Indonesia time.

For Friday, working hours are from 08.00 to 14.00 western Indonesia time, with rest time from 11.30 to 12.30 western Indonesia time.

Governor Khofifah is optimistic that ASN will not be disturbed, or decrease performance productivity even though they are fasting.

"On the contrary, it will increase because work is also part of worship that has a large reward value," said the number one person in the East Java Provincial Government.

Khofifah also believes that the momentum of Ramadan should be used as a reflection to increase faith and devotion to Allah SWT.

"The month of Ramadan has not diminished the spirit of working for ASN in serving the community. I am sure that ASN can use their time well and know when to carry out their duties and perform worship," she said.
