Anies Allows Ramadan Worship In The Mosque As Long As Obeying Health Protocols, and Do Iftar At Home

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has allowed the implementation of Ramadan worship at mosques as long as they adhere to health protocols.

"I recommend all people to return to worship activities during the holy month of Ramadan, different from last year where everything was done at home. Now it can be done in mosques," Anies said at the Jakarta City Hall as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 31.

According to Anies, by continuing to follow the health protocols, health can be maintained and worship activities can be carried out.

The current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta, he said, is now more under control and is supported by a large vaccination coverage, allowing for easing.

However, for breaking the fast, Anies recommends that it be done at home to anticipate risk factors.

"With or without a pandemic, try to break your fast at home. We all know that there is always a risk, therefore it is recommended to break the fast at home," he said.

Anies reminded the public to jointly maintain health protocols to prevent a spike in positive cases of COVID-19.

"Make sure that throughout Ramadan and after Eid there is no significant increase in cases. By Eid, the rules will be re-evaluated," he continued.

Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, COVID-19 cases are increasingly under control, observing the occupancy rate of beds for COVID-19 patients.

As of Sunday (27/3), the bed occupancy rate of COVID-19 patients being treated or isolated in 140 referral hospitals has decreased to 799 cases or 15 percent of the total bed capacity of 5.345 beds.

The occupancy of the intensive care room also decreased to 22 percent as many as 200 patients out of a total capacity of 907 people.

While the percentage of positive cases reached six percent with additional positive cases as of Wednesday (30/3) reaching 901 cases.

Meanwhile, the achievement of the first dose of vaccination in Jakarta as of Wednesday (30/3) has reached 12.4 million, or 123.6 percent of the target of 10 million people.

The second dose of vaccination reached 10.5 million or 104 percent and the third dose reached 2.45 million.
