MATARAM - A man from Surabaya, East Java, with the initials JSM (37), was arrested by the police in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for allegedly stealing valuables from the hotel room of a young musician, Pamungkas.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, Commissioner Hari Brata,l said it was revealed that the perpetrator had launched the action on Saturday, March 19 in the morning when the victim's hotel room was unoccupied.

"So in less than 24 hours the perpetrators were caught by our members in Mataram", said Hari Brata in Mataram, Antara, Sunday, March 20.

Hari explained that the perpetrator's mode of action was by pretending to come to the hotel as a guest. By acting alone, the perpetrator initially checked one by one the hotel rooms located in the city of Mataram.

"Arriving at room number 210, where the victim was staying, the perpetrator found the door unlocked", he said.

With ease, then the perpetrator entered the hotel room where the victim's full name was Rizki Rahmahadian Pamungkas and came out carrying a large bag.

"The bag contained a 'Leica' camera, a wallet with the identity of the victim, 'headphones', 'chargers', glasses and an Apple Android watch", he said.

Furthermore, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, Kompol Kadek Adi Budi Astawa, said that the modus operandi of the perpetrators of acting was revealed from an examination of the hotel's CCTV footage.

"So from our team's investigation, it turns out that this perpetrator did not only act in one place but there were also two other hotels. From the three locations, all of his actions were recorded on CCTV cameras", said Kadek Adi.

Following up on the identification of the perpetrator, the police obtained the location of his presence in the Gontoran area, Mataram City.

"So in less than 24 hours, we managed to catch this perpetrator on Saturday afternoon in one of the houses in the Gontoran area", he said.

According to Kadek Adi, the house was a stopover for JSM. The stolen goods in the Pamungkas hotel room were also secured during his arrest.

"The victim's belongings have not been sold and are still with him. But there is also money stolen from another hotel location, it has run out, he uses it to consume methamphetamine", he said.
