JAKARTA - Police personnel from Ilir Barat I Palembang, South Sumatra found a student from a state university in the area hanged herself.

The Head of Ilir Barat I Palembang Police, Commissioner Roy Tambunan, said the victim was found dead hanging from her neck tied to cloth in her room in her own house on Tuesday, March 15 night.

The discovery stems from reports of local residents who smelled an unpleasant odor from the victim's room while seeing a human body standing upright from the ventilation gap.

Residents suspected it was the victim who had been searching for the family for the last few days because the victim did not return home after saying goodbye to her mother to go to college in Indralaya, Ogan Ilir on Friday, March 11.

"The victim's family was looking for her because she didn't come home. Based on the information from the victim's mother, L (47), she last saw her daughter on Friday, March 11, at that time the victim said goodbye to go to college in Indralaya", said Roy, Wednesday, March 16 quoted from Antara.

Finding this condition, the victim's father tried to open the door to the room but couldn't because it was locked from the inside, because he was worried, he immediately complained to the head of the local RT and asked the police for help.

"The suspicion turned out to be true after our officers found the dead victim hanging with her neck unraveled because she was tied to a cloth with a rotting condition in the room, it was suspected that he had been dead for 2-3 days", said Commissioner Roy.

The victim's body was evacuated with the Palembang Police Station of INAFIS (Automatic Finger Print Identification System) team to the Bhayangkara M Hasan hospital for a post-mortem and then the crime scene (TKP) was carried out.

"The possibility of murder is low because the victim's room is locked from greetings, while this is strongly suspected of committing suicide based on the results of the post-mortem and the statements of the witnesses' parents and co-victims", he said.
