Metro Jaya Police Deploys 500 Personnel To Guard The MotoGP Parade, Applying Traffic Engineering

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Polie has deployed 500 personnel to implement a security scheme during a parade of MotoGP racers. They will be on guard all the way from the State Palace to the Kempingski Hotel, Central Jakarta.

"Our lane security has prepared 500 personnel from the police," said Karo Ops Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Marsudianto to reporters, Tuesday, March 15.

The security scheme will also involve officers from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The joint team will later keep the community from spilling out onto the streets.

"To anticipate that there will be no overflowing audience watching the journey from the Palace to the Kempinski Hotel," said Marsudianto.

Then, Marsudianto also appealed to people who would hold demonstrations around the Parede route to postpone it temporarily.

"We urge from 10.00 a.m.-11.00 a.m. to postpone the demonstration activity so that it will be postponed until the parade is finished and then please carry it out," said Marsudianto.

Polda Metro Jaya will apply traffic engineering during the parade of 20 MotoGP racers in Jakarta. Under the scheme, a number of roads will be closed.

"There will be a closure of even one stream when the group passes from the (state, ed) palace to the Kempinski Hotel along the road," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo.

The road closures will begin at 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 16. Meanwhile, the roads that have been closed include Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat and Jalan MH Thamrin which lead to the HI roundabout.

"From the opposite direction south to north (the HI-Istana Merdeka Roundabout) will run normally as usual," said Sambodo.

Then, his party will also put a guardrail along the parade route. The goal is to limit the distance between the parade participants and the public.
