JAKARTA - Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia, Vasyl Hamianin, asked the Indonesian people not to be consumed by the Russian government's propaganda that wants to obscure the fact that there has been a humanitarian disaster and no war crimes have occurred in Ukraine.

"I sincerely ask, please analyze don't believe disinformation and lies. Lies are a great thing, especially when it comes to war crimes. We can find a lot of disinformation from the Russian side", Vasyl said when meeting with the Muhammadiyah Central Executive in Jakarta reported by Antara, Thursday, March 10.

Vasyl asked the Indonesian people to be careful in digesting any information that emerged from the Russian side. They, he said, used methods to divide the narrative about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russia, said Vasyl, has been proven to have committed war crimes and resulted in a humanitarian catastrophe. Not a few civilians became victims of the Russian invasion, including destroying public facilities.

"As you know, many cities in Ukraine are experiencing civilian bombardment by missiles, artillery, airstrikes, and now they are facing a humanitarian catastrophe so people don't have medicine. They (Ukrainian people) have no roof, they have no place to live, they don't eat, and all logistics are cut off", he said.

He also asked the Indonesian people to criticize the Russian government and pray that the invasion would end soon. Besides that, regarding the Muslim narrative in Ukraine, they are currently fighting together against the Russian army.

"I really hope that the Indonesian people will pray for Ukraine, also pray for it, including Muslim brothers and sisters. And we hope that the people in Indonesia will do anything to help prevent a humanitarian disaster", he said.

Previously, the General Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu'ti, said that his party supports the struggle of the Ukrainian people in defending the country.

According to him, Muhammadiyah will provide humanitarian assistance. However, regarding what assistance will be provided, said Mu'ti, Muhammadiyah cannot confirm it yet because it has to coordinate with Lazismu and Muhammadiyah's international humanitarian organization.

"In principle, Muhammadiyah will try to help our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who are victims of this war. But indeed we will channel it to international institutions and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs", said Muti.
