JAKARTA - South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto said his party was investigating the alleged cause of the collapse of the ornaments at Lippo Mall Kemang, South Jakarta.

"It's an ornament that was attached with cement, it came off and fell. Underneath there were several stands selling goods," said Kombes Budhi, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 5.

Budhi explained that the ornaments attached to the roof of the mall collapsed to the ground floor where a book exhibition was being held.

"There were no fatalities in the incident, only a few people suffered minor injuries," he said.

In that incident, said Budhi, the activity on the ground floor was not too crowded. Operations at Lippo Mall Kemang are still running. "Later we will investigate deeply. We will ask an expert to carry out an examination," said Budhi.

Meanwhile, PT Lippo Malls Indonesia's Corporate Public Relations, Nidia Ichsan, explained that the incident occurred at around 13.30 WIB, originating from an ornament installed in the main atrium.

"The cause of the fall of this ornament was due to extreme weather, strong winds on the roof," said Nidia.

The mall management noted that five minor injuries had been treated. The mall's operations are currently in normal condition.
