Residents Of Sudirman Housing Willing To Queue For IDR 14 Thousand Cooking Oil

BANTEN - Dozens of residents in Sudirman Housing, Tigaraksa Village, Tigaraksa District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, are willing to queue for hours to get IDR 14,000/liter of cooking oil provided by one of the local minimarkets.

They are also willing to jostle because it has been difficult to get cooking oil for the past few weeks.

Observations in the field, a number of mothers who don't want to be left behind and run out of cheap oil stocks are seen including their children in the long line of hunting for the oil.

Khodijah (30), one of the residents who took part in the cooking oil queue in Tangerang, Friday, said that the scarcity of stock and high selling prices made it difficult for her to get cooking oil to meet the needs of her family.

"I've been queuing since this morning, because I got information last night from the group that there will be a delivery of cooking oil at this shop. Even though I ended up queuing up too, but it's better than I can't cook," she said.

She also hopes that the central government and regional governments will soon be able to overcome the spike and scarcity of cooking oil prices, so that people will no longer have trouble getting oil. Moreover, she said, these few weeks will face the holy month of Ramadan.

"I hope the government can quickly overcome the current shortage of oil. We are already struggling, everything is rare and expensive, what will happen when we enter the fasting month," she hoped.

Meanwhile, Ruly (28), a resident of Sudirman Housing, complained about the same thing, regarding the scarcity of cooking oil in the Tangerang Regency area.

He said that so far residents have had to queue to get 1 liter of packaged cooking oil. While in the hunt he was not sure whether he could get it or not.

"Now the oil provided in this shop is limited. I don't know at this time whether I can get it or not. Because the information from the store is limited, there are many more people lining up," he said.
