Yogyakarta Will Host G20 Menaker's Meeting

YOGYAKARTA - Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, said the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) was chosen as the location for a meeting of ministers of manpower from various countries who are members of the G20 forum from May 10 to 12, 2022.

Ida Fauziyah after meeting Yogyakarta Governor, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, in Kepatihan, Yogyakarta, said Yogyakarta was chosen because it has links to four issues that will be brought up in the upcoming G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) forum.

"We chose Yogyakarta because it adapts to four issues", said Ida, quoted by Antara on Thursday, February 24.

The four issues that Ida mentioned related to Yogyakarta are sustainable job creation towards a changing world of work, the inclusive labor market, and affirmative work for people with disabilities.

Next, the development of human capacity for sustainable productivity growth, and the protection of an adaptive workforce in a changing world of work.

"We see that Yogyakarta is one of the provinces that concentrates on developing MSMEs and creating jobs, that's why we chose Yogyakarta", she said.

During the meeting of the ministers from the upcoming G20 member countries, Ida said that she would exhibit MSME products in DIY.

"MSMEs in DIY can survive, especially in this pandemic era, and are even able to create jobs", said Ida.

Yogyakarta, according to Ida, is also considered to commit to providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

"For that, we hope for support from the Governor (Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X) so that the implementation of the EWG can run well", she said.

Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X said the Yogyakarta Regional Government was ready to facilitate all stages of the meeting of the ministers of manpower in the G20 Presidency for the Manpower Sector. "We only facilitate it", said the Sultan.
