Preparing To Anticipate Russia, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Expects More Arms Support From Western Countries

JAKARTA - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on Tuesday that Ukraine's Chargé d'Affaires in Moscow would return to the country, given that severing ties with Russia was in Ukraine's interests.

In addition, he also asked the West to send additional weapons to 'confront'. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister also asked Britain to provide his country with "defense" weapons, noting that Ukraine will use all diplomatic methods to "protect" the country, quoted from Almayadeen on February 23.

As reported by Teletrader, Foreign Minister Kuleba said he had written a letter to British Foreign Minister Liz Truss, asking London to send more weapons to Kyiv.

Foreign Minister Kuleba also indicated that Ukraine would contact other countries regarding arms supplies for his country, accusing Russia of withdrawing from the Minsk agreement.

Foreign Minister Kuleba further accused Russia of seeking a response to provocations and spreading panic, stressing that relations with Russia were inferior to before.

Separately, G7 foreign ministers pledged their full support to Ukraine on Tuesday, said British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. After a joint call with colleagues, Truss tweeted that G7 ministers "strongly condemn Russia's violation of their international commitments."

As previously reported, the United States and Britain are two of a number of countries providing assistance with weapons, ranging from anti-tank missiles to light anti-armor defense weapons and personnel to Ukraine, including military trainers.

In the middle of this month, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov thanked and praised military assistance from two like-minded countries, the United States and Lithuania, in posts on social media amid escalating border tensions with Russia.

To note, Military officials say Ukraine has significantly strengthened its armed forces with the help of allies, equipping the army, in particular, with American and British anti-tank systems and Turkish drones.
