Brawl Action Rises, South Jakarta City Government And Police Discuss Prevention Efforts

JAKARTA - The many brawls that have occurred have made the South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) together with the South Jakarta Police to discuss efforts to eradicate student brawls that often occur in the area.

Head of the South Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) Sub-Department, Fatur Rohim, said that the planned discussion for February 2022 will involve the South Jakarta Education Sub-Department.

"Regarding high school, vocational, and aliyah school children, the plan for February 2022 will discuss the prevention and eradication of brawls. Involving the correctional center, the police, and P2TP2A," said Fathur Rohim, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, January 26.

Fathur admitted that student brawls often occur during the face-to-face learning process (PTM).

"Yes, the situation is already like this, there are still brawls. So we will listen to the Bapas and Polres (in discussion)," said Fathur.

"We are only coordinating with cross-sectors. And later we will carry out (discussions) with Education Sub-Departments (regions) one and two. It's just prevention," added Fathur.

Previously, two student brawls occurred in the South Jakarta area in the last two weeks.

The first incident occurred in the Pondok Labu area, right in front of the Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) campus, Cilandak, South Jakarta involving two groups of SMK students, Friday, January 14.

On the same day, a brawl between two groups of students also occurred in the Tanjung Barat area, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, causing two students to suffer stab wounds.

"They stabbed each other. So the victim is the perpetrator as well. We have also detained several students," said Jagakarsa Police Chief, Commissioner of Police Wahid Key.
