Formula E Circuit Auction Repeats, PDIP Doubts Which Company Will Want It

JAKARTA - BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is repeating the tender process for the construction of the Formula E circuit. This re-auction was carried out because the previous process was declared unsuccessful.

In response to this, the chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD, Gembong Warsono, suspects that the re-tender for the construction of the Formula E track will fail again.

"I suspect that many companies will not take risks. Formula E is a project with a very high risk of loss. So, this re-auction failed," said Gembong when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, January 26.

Then, when the re-auction of the Formula E tender again failed, Gembong said that in the end Jakpro would directly appoint a private company to work on the construction of the track.

This refers to Presidential Regulation Number 12 of 2021 concerning Amendments to Presidential Regulation Number 16 of 2018 concerning Procurement of Government Goods/Services. The regulation states that direct appointments can be made due to a number of factors, one of which is that the re-tender failed.

There is something to worry about from this direct appointment. Gembong said that when Jakpro appointed its own tender, the public could not know the qualifications of the third party working on the circuit.

"Regarding qualifications, in the end Jakpro itself knows, right, because it wasn't declared (announced). It's different from the auction. Regarding prices and so on, if the appointment is direct, it's completely closed because Jakpro wants it," explained Gembong.

It is known that the tender process for the construction of the Formula E circuit which had previously been opened was declared a failure. This notice can be seen on the Jakpro e-Procurement website. Jakpro then repeated the auction process.

However, President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo Widi Amanasto admitted that he was optimistic that the construction of the Formula E circuit could run on time in early February.

"The re-auction has been carried out at the beginning of this week. Hopefully it will meet expectations and be on track according to the timeline," said Widi in a short message.
