JAKARTA - The South Jakarta City Government (South Jakarta City Government) has asked local residents to report if they find problems with cooking oil, ranging from indications of hoarding to price discrepancies with the latest provisions for the commodity from the regulator.

"Please, if the public is worried or indicated, just report it or come to our office or go to the Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperative Trade Industry Sub-Department (PPKUKM)," said South Jakarta Mayor Munjirin in a written statement in Jakarta, Friday, January 21, as reported by Antara.

Previously, the government had set a policy of one cooking oil price equivalent to Rp. 14,000 per liter starting Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 00.01 WIB.

Munjirin appealed to residents of South Jakarta not to worry about the potential for hoarding cooking oil in the community because his party will monitor it through the food task force in the field.

"We are integrated from now on. The price is the same for all Rp. 14 thousand. So, if the cooking oil task force is at the PPKUKM Service, we will cooperate," he said.

Previously, Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said at a press conference on Tuesday that the one-price cooking oil policy was expected to make people get cooking oil at affordable prices and on the other hand producers would not be harmed because the difference in price would be reimbursed by the government.

The One Price Cooking Oil Policy is the government's continued effort to ensure the availability of cooking oil at affordable prices.

Through this policy, all cooking oil, both premium packaging and simple packaging, will be sold at a price equivalent to Rp. 14,000 per liter to meet the needs of households and micro and small businesses.

As an initial implementation, the supply of cooking oil at one price will be made through modern retailers who are members of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) and for traditional markets, they will be given one week to make adjustments.

"Modern retailers will provide cooking oil at a price of Rp. 14,000 per liter starting on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 00:01 local time and the public is expected not to panic buy because the stock of cooking oil is very sufficient," added the Minister.
