Unrevealed Motives When A Man Pushed An Asian Woman To Death On St Times Square Platform

JAKARTA - Horror at Times Square 42nd Street subway station. When an Asian woman was suddenly pushed by a man onto the station platform not long before the train passed.

The perpetrator was identified as 61-year-old Simon Martial. He turned himself in to the NYPD just under an hour after the horror events of Saturday, January 15th.

NYPD Sergeant. Anwar Ismail called the incident a "random" attack. Police said Michelle Alyssa Go, 40, died after she was pushed onto the tracks of an oncoming train at the Times Square 42nd Street subway station. The suspect then fled the scene, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 09.40 local time. There was no previous interaction between the perpetrator and the victim.

"The victim did not appear to have interacted with the perpetrator," NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at a news conference.

The suspect is known to have a criminal background.

Minutes before the suspect Michelle Alyssa Go to the tracks, she had approached another woman. But this woman tried to avoid it because she felt like she would be pushed.

"Today, a woman entered a subway station, like any other New Yorker, just trying to get where she needed to go," New York Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement on Twitter.

"New Yorkers have the right to feel safe while riding mass transit. That's why I stand with (New York Governor Kathy Hochul) to announce the Safe Options Support team."
