JAKARTA – There are three things that are key to maintaining and fostering an attitude of tolerance as a form of maintaining unity in the midst of pluralism and diversity in the country. That is mutual understanding, respect, and trust. This was explained by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
"All religious people must prioritize mutual understanding, mutual respect, and mutual trust," she said while attending a Christmas celebration with the TNI-Polri, ASN, and the Community in 2021 at the East Java Police Headquarters in Surabaya, Friday, January 14.
According to her, these three things must continue to be built in order to provide coolness to the community. In the midst of these differences, said Khofifah, all citizens are required to be able to build tolerance with each other so that with an attitude of tolerance, harmony is created.
During the Christmas and New Year celebrations which took place with strict health protocols, Khofifah revealed that this activity was a testament to the high effort to build brotherhood among religious believers.
"This activity is a momentum to strengthen brotherhood with sincerity, and to build love among others," she said.
The number one person in the East Java Provincial Government also thanked the ranks of the TNI-Polri-ASN and the community who had worked together to maintain and create a sense of brotherhood.
