KPK Says Penajam Paser Utara Regent Is Arrested In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Penajam Paser Utara Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud was caught in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sting operation on Wednesday, January 12 in Jakarta. He was arrested along with a number of other parties.

"The person concerned was arrested in Jakarta along with several other parties," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to VOI, Thursday, January 13.

In addition to Jakarta, the enforcement team also carried out the same title in East Kalimantan. However, Ali did not elaborate further on the arrests because investigations were still being carried out.

This inspection activity, he continued, was carried out in two places. Some were examined at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, and some were examined in East Kalimantan.

"Some have been (checked, ed) at the KPK. There are also in East Kalimantan," he explained.

Because the investigation is still ongoing, the KPK asks the public to be patient. Moreover, the anti-corruption commission still has 1x24 hours to investigate allegations of corruption.

However, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, revealed that there had been bribery so that the silent operation was carried out.

"It is true that the KPK yesterday, on January 12, had actively arrested state officials in the Penajam Paser Utara area on suspicion of accepting bribes and gratuities," said Ghufron to reporters, Thursday, January 13.
