3 Cars Hit By Falling Trees Due To Strong Winds In Semarang

SEMARANG - Three cars were crushed by a large Angsana tree that fell after strong winds hit the Semarang City area, Central Java.

Central Semarang Police Chief, Kompol Untung Kistopo, confirmed the unfortunate incident that happened to a car parked on Pleburan Barat Street, Semarang City.

The three cars that were hit by the tree were a Toyota Avanza with license plate number H 1364 S, Daihatsu Terios license plate N 1132 R, and a Honda Jazz license plate number H 1681 PW.

"There were no casualties in the incident", he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 11.

According to him, provisionally the cause of the tree collapse was due to a porous tree trunk.

South Semarang Police, Semarang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the surrounding community, he said, helped with the evacuation process and cleaning the road area from the remains of fallen trees.

South Semarang Sub-District Head Ronny Tjahjo said the pruning of the fallen tree branches had been done before.

"The burden has been reduced, but it turns out that something is rotten", he said.

Meanwhile, the weather conditions in the city of Semarang had heavy rains from noon to the afternoon after being hit by strong winds.
