JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Task Force has added one country, namely France, to the list of countries whose foreigners are prohibited from entering Indonesia within 14 days.

This decision is contained in the Circular Letter of the Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 1 of 2022 regarding health protocols for overseas travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Temporarily closing the entry of Foreign Citizens (WNA), either directly or in transit in a foreign country, who has lived and/or visited within 14 days from the country/region with the following conditions," wrote the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Suharyanto in the circular (SE), quoted on Thursday, January 6.

Thus, currently there are 14 countries that cannot enter Indonesia, namely South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, Norway, France, England and Denmark.

These countries are prohibited from entering Indonesia because they have confirmed the existence of community transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, a country that is geographically close to a community transmission country for the Omicron variant, and a country with more than 10.000 Omicron cases.

Meanwhile, Indonesian citizens who come from these 14 countries are still allowed to enter the country with the obligation to undergo quarantine for 14 days.

Then, for foreigners and Indonesian citizens from other countries who are not included in the ban to Indonesia, they are required to adjust the quarantine duration to 7 days.

The entry ban for foreigners, either directly or in transit from the 14 countries, is exempted for foreigners holding diplomatic and service visas, foreign officials at ministerial level and above and their entourage who make official/state visits, enter under the Travel Corridor Arrangement scheme, and delegates from G20 member countries.
