Escaped From The Bekasi City Police Headquarters, A Prisoner Died And 3 Police Were Also Questioned

JAKARTA - A prisoner managed to escape from the Bekasi City Police Headquarters (Mapolres). However, his actions resulted in the loss of his life.

The prisoner is S alias M (40). He is the prisoner of the molestation case.

The action of S running away began when he was undergoing an examination in one of the rooms. He was asked for clarification by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Bekasi City Metro Police, Friday, December 31.

At that time, S was given the opportunity to eat. However, suddenly the suspect in this obscene case asked for permission to go to the bathroom. The reason is to wash his hands.

It was while in the bathroom that S ran away. He broke through the bathroom ceiling and managed to escape.

The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police Grand Commissioner E. Zulpan, who was confirmed about this, also confirmed it.

"That's right (a prisoner escaped, ed)," said Zulpan, Sunday, January 2.

Found Dead

Regardless of the prisoner's escape, Zulpan stated that S's whereabouts had been found. But already in a lifeless state.

The prisoner was found floating in the river which is right behind the Bekasi City Police. Allegedly, S fell in the river and could not swim.

"So he fell in there (river, ed), he's been searched since yesterday," said Zulpan.

The allegation was because when he was found, S was wearing prison clothes. However, to make sure it requires in-depth investigation.

"He died still wearing prison clothes. When he was found, he was found that way," said Zulpan.

In this case, the application of standard operating procedures (SOP) is highly highlighted. Because, it is suspected that members of the Bekasi City Police were negligent in carrying it out

In fact, due to the action of escaping prisoners, three police officers from the Bekasi City Police were questioned by the Regional Superintendent Inspector (Irwasda) of the Metro Jaya Police.

"There are three personnel being examined by Irwasda, there is an officer in charge of it," said the Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Aloysius Suprijadi.

Indeed, said Aloysius, in the series of incidents there was negligence. Which is it does not apply the SOP properly.

"The SOP is not applied in the bathroom when (the detainee) is released," he said.

Apart from that, Aloysius also stated that he would improve the detention inspection system and tighten SOPs. The goal is to prevent similar problems from happening again.

"We will improve the inspection system and we will tighten SOPs again. Then (access officers, ed) we will limit the investigator's room, not all are free to go in and out so that it interferes with the investigation," said Aloysius.
