JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked the public who are aware of the whereabouts of the fugitives, including the former PDI-P legislative candidate, Harun Masiku, to report. This request was also submitted to Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) which often highlights the search effort.

This was conveyed following the spotlight given by ICW. This anti-corruption activist group said the anti-corruption commission had failed to find Harun, who had been on the run for 700 days since January 2020.

"If the public knows about the whereabouts of the DPOs, including of course, if friends from ICW know about them, please report to the nearest apparatus or to the KPK," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Wednesday, December 29.

Ali said this report could be made through the KPK call center at number 198 or by e-mail to [email protected]. "Every information we receive regarding the existence of the DPO, we will ensure that it is followed up," he said.

Furthermore, he ensured that the KPK was committed to finding the fugitive. This commitment is evidenced by the cooperation carried out with other law enforcement officers such as the police and the prosecutor's office.

The number of fugitives currently being sought are four people, of which three others are inherited from the time of Agus Rahardjo et al when they served as KPK leaders.

"Currently, there are at least four DPOs that are the responsibility of the KPK to immediately arrest him, namely Harun Masiku and the three remaining DPOs from the previous KPK period, namely Surya Darmadi (2019), Izil Azhar (2018), and Kirana Kotama (2017) who have until now also can not be found," said Ali.

"We make sure that the KPK continues to search for KPK DPOs, both those that have been set since 2017 and 2020," he added.

Harun was named a suspect because he was suspected of bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan SGD 57,350 or the equivalent of Rp600 million.

"About arresting fugitives, it is certain that there is a former PDIP candidate there, Harun Masiku, although there are several other fugitives, but this has been the busiest for the last 2 years," Kurnia said on Monday, December 27.

He suspects that the arrest of Harun Masiku will take a very long time and it is believed that the KPK will provide many clarifications regarding their failure.

"Our prediction is that if we see that it has been more than 700 days since the KPK failed to arrest Harun Masiku. We believe it will be very long and the KPK will be busy with clarifications because of the pandemic and so on, making it difficult to arrest Harun Masiku. So for us Harun is not incapable, but I don't want to be arrested by the KPK," Kurnia said at the time.
