JAKARTA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said his party would not support a temporary solution in resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

"For Russia, this issue is fundamental and we, of course, will not support a temporary decision or accept an ultimatum imposed by the other party," Lavrov said at the Primakov Readings forum, Wednesday, June 24, reported by ANTARA from Sputnik.

Parties opposed to Russia, he said, must understand that the country's security warnings cannot be ignored.

"At the same time, the West must understand, the sooner the better, that military-political, geo-economic, and ideological expansion plans in Russia's vital interest zones must be abandoned," Lavrov said.

The conflict in Ukraine can still be resolved through diplomacy, Lavrov said, while stressing that Russia remains committed to the agreement reached in Alaska.
