Wow, Bank Indonesia Papua Destroys IDR 1.7 Trillion Of Shabby Money

JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia Papua Representative Office until November 2021 has destroyed IDR 1.7 trillion in worn-out or unfit for circulation.

"The shabby money was destroyed at BI's disposal site in Jayapura", said Bank Indonesia Papua Representative Head Naek, Tigor Sinaga, to Antara in Jayapura on Tuesday, December 28.

He explained that the amount of shabby money that was destroyed had decreased compared to 2020 which was recorded at IDR 2.1 trillion.

Before being destroyed, he continued, the money was first sorted and then destroyed.

"The shabby money was obtained from mobile treasury which is a place to exchange money or from banks operating in Papua", said Naek Sinaga.

Meanwhile, regarding the cost of distributing money in Papua, Sinaga said the cost for the distribution could reach around IDR 7-10 billion.

According to him, the high cost of sending money in Papua is due to various factors, including the cost of renting a plane which costs around IDR 50 million per flight hour.

"The cost of the plane is quite high, including the cost of cargo, which costs IDR 45,000-IDR 60,000 per kilogram, and one ton of money is sent once", explained Sinaga.
