JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin asked the Indonesian people not to travel abroad.
This request follows the continued increase in the number of cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country due to imported cases or those brought by travelers from abroad.
The Minister of Health said that the majority of Indonesian citizens (WNI) returning from abroad were exposed to Omicron. Currently, the total number of Omicron cases in Indonesia is 46 people.
"So, protect ourselves, don't go out of the country," said Minister of Health Budi in a press conference broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, December 27.
Once again, the former Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) appealed to citizens not to travel abroad. Because so far, the Omicron variants that have entered Indonesia come from people who travel between countries.
"You don't have to go abroad if you don't really need it because now the source of the disease is there," said Budi.
