SUMBAR - The West Sumatra Regional Police detained a foreign national (WNA) from Pakistan with the initials AHB who was suspected of committing a criminal act of molesting a girl in the city of Padang.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Police, Commissioner Satake Bayu, said the perpetrator grabbed the hand of the 13-year-old victim and leaned her against the wall and abused him.

"After that, it was reported that the perpetrator did something disgraceful when the victim was guarding a clothing store on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11.00 a.m. local time, in the East Padang District, Padang City," explained Bayu in Padang as reported by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.

Satisfied with his actions, AHB then threatened the victim not to report his actions to others.

"The victim then reported it and we are still in the legal process on this issue," he explained. The victim's report is contained in LP/B/446/XII/2021/SPKT/Polda Sbr. From this report, the police then questioned the complainant and the witness on Sunday, December 19 at the PPA Unit of the West Sumatra Police Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum).

This foreigner is suspected of being under Article 82 in conjunction with Article 76E of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

"Later we will coordinate with Immigration and the Pakistani Embassy regarding this suspect," he said.
